ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst softball team fell in both halves of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon to visiting Seton Hill.
The Lakers dropped the opener 9-1 in five innings before falling 2-1 in game two.
In game one, the teams traded runs in the first with Marisa Cartellone picking up a two-out RBI single for Mercyhurst.
Seton Hill took a 2-1 lead on the second on a passed ball and extended the lead to 5-1 with a three-run third inning. The Griffins tacked on four more in the fourth inning to set the final.
Mikaela Schramski took the loss in the circle for the Lakers allowing four runs in 2.1 innings of work.
In the nightcap, a pitchers' duel saw the game scoreless through five innings. Seton Hill took a 1-0 lead on a Jenna Osikowicz solo home run in the sixth. The Griffins added an insurance run in the seventh to make it 2-0.
Sarah Koscho pulled the Lakers to within one with her eighth home run of the season, a solo blast, in the bottom of the frame but the Mercyhurst comeback bid ended there.
Cheyenne Hindman allowed only three hits over seven innings and took the loss in the circle. Madison Fry collected a pair of hits for the Lakers.
Mercyhurst is back in action on Sunday against Cal U in makeup contests from earlier this season. Games are slated for 1 p.m.
