Softball Slated for Key PSAC West Stretch with Eight Games in Five Days

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst softball team looks to improve their standing in the PSAC West as they will play eight games against the teams currently in first and second place respectively in Seton Hill and Cal U beginning on Friday. 

The Games 
Mercyhurst will open their weekend with a trip to Seton Hill on Friday for a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m. The Griffins will make the return trip to the Mercyhurst softball field for a twin bill which has been moved up to an 11 a.m. start. 

The Lakers will host Cal U in a makeup from earlier this season on Sunday at 1 p.m. and then close out the week of games on Tuesday with a doubleheader against the Vulcans starting at 2:30 p.m. 

With the Bats 
Madison Fry and Cheyenne Hindman have paced the Laker offense. Fry posts a .462 batting average with five doubles, a triple and a team-high 20 runs scored to go with five RBI. Hindman adds a .400 average with six doubles, three home runs and 17 RBI.  Sarah Koscho has provided the pop with a .713 slugging percentage on seven home runs and seven doubles to go with a .351 average. Allison Dejidas has chipped in a .333 average with six homers, and three doubles with 20 RBI. 

In the Circle 
Mikaela Schramski has made 10 starts in the circle with a 4-3 record and a 4.82 ERA. She has three complete games and two shutouts to go with 33 strikeouts. Morgan Hilty has made 14 apperances including nine starts with a 2-3 record and a pair of saves. Kaitlin Hoffner is 4-2 in 14 relief appearances as well as one save. 

Scouting the Griffins 
The Griffins are 18-8 overall and 15-5 in the PSAC West holding and are currently leading the division. Nichole McClendon leads the Griffins with a .402 average and has scored a team-leading 20 runs. Jenna Osikowicz adds a .377 average with nine extra-base hits and 13 RBI. Logan Harman has made 10 appearances, seven starts, and is 8-0 with a 0.72 ERA with 32 strikeouts. Lauren Dellett is 8-4 in 12 starts with a 1.67 ERA and 71 strikeouts. 

Scouting the Vulcans 
Cal U is 12-4 on the seaosn with an identical mark in the PSAC West. They haven't played since March 30 when they split a doubleheader with Slippery Rock. The games on Sunday will kick off a stretch of eight straight days with a doubleheader for the Vulcans. Paige Wilson leads Cal with a .449 average with 11 doubles and two home runs and 20 RBI. Shayna Postler adds a .406 average with 10 RBI and nine runs scored.
