ERIE, Pa. -- Women's golf's Isabella Walter and baseball's Philip Ferranti were selected as the PPG Paints Mercyhurst Athletes of the Week for their performances this past weekend.

Ferranti hit .429 at the plate this weekend while hitting two homers in the four game sweep of the IUP Crimson Hawks. The Webster, NY native was also able to drive in a total of six runs this weekend while being behind the dish for all four games. He also raised his batting average for the season to .372. In the field, Ferranti recorded 35 putouts while also having four assists, on the season he has a fielding percentage of .989.

Walter earned her first victory of her collegiate career with two-round score of 154 helping the Laker women's golf team to their third victory of the season at the Gannon Spring Invitational. Walter followed that up with a 78 at the Mercyhurst Inviational on Monday where she finished tied for first but fell in the playoff.
