Kueber Matches Career-High With 10 Points as No. 3 Lakers Stay Undefeated

ERIE, Pa. – Senior attackman Caleb Kueber had five goals and five assists to total ten points as the third-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team used a strong first three quarters to put significant distance between themselves and the visiting Walsh University, en route to a 19-7 win in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action on Saturday night at Saxon Stadium.

Mercyhurst struck first as Kueber found a cutting Devin Pipher who deposited his shot past Patrick Cuddihy for the 1-0 lead.  Marcus Brown answered back with an unassisted marker to even things up.  Pipher cashed in his second of the contest thanks to a feed by Michael Rossi, followed by Kueber setting up Zach Lorenz for his third of the campaign and a 3-1 lead after one.

The long-stick got involved on the first goal of the second when Tommy Angelicola hit Kueber with a pass for his first of the day.  After Walsh pulled one back to make it 4-2, the home squad went to work with Ben Smith-Cox notching goal number eight off a dish by Nicholas Mabe.  Pipher then handed out his first helper of the evening setting up Nicholas Bartone who made it 6-2.  Smith-Wilcox capped off the first half scoring with 1:57 to go as Pipher put up assist number three.

Kueber to Pipher made it 8-2, 33-seconds into the third, before Jacob Emerson hit a wide-open Timothy McMullen just over four minutes later extending the margin to 9-2.  Kueber got back into the assist game at the 5:30 mark putting the ball in the crosse of Bryce Johnson who hammered home his 10th of the season.  Walsh cut the run for a brief second, prior to Kueber ripping the net two more times off assists from Emerson and Pipher along with Nathan Grenon being the beneficiary of a Kueber helper to lead 13-3 through 45-minutes.

The Lakers continued their blitz of Cuddihy's cage early in the fourth notching three more goals in the opening 2:31 as Pipher finished off a dish from Johnson, followed by Quinn Simonson and Johnson each scoring for the 16-3 advantage.  Kueber ripped the top-corner twice in the span of a minute pushing it to 18-3.  Walsh outscored the Lakers 4-1 the rest of the way with only Simonson hitting the net for the Green and Blue to close out the 19-7 final.
