Football Announces Recruits on Signing Day

ERIE, Pa. - The Mercyhurst football team added 22 recruits to the 2021 recruitng class on National Signing Day. Below you can see the class as well as thoughts from head coach Marty Schaetzle.

"This was very different for us as coaches, because we're so used to getting out on the road meeting players at school, meeting the parents at some point having them on campus and going through that whole in person routine and that didn't happen the way we are used to. Our staff did a great job with the visits we were able to have as well as our virtual visits. Also a big thank you to our faculty. They joined us for so many of our virtual meetings and created time above and beyond to be on Zoom calls and answer questions for our recruits."

"This year's class was a very perimeter class. It has a lot of the skill position players on both sides of the ball.. That's where our needs were and we went out to address them. We had some guys who were sticking around for a fifth year that moved on after we didn't have a traditional fall season and that has opened up some opportunities for some of these incoming players to compete for more playing time. There will always be competition, but there are some bigger roles to fill."
