McClellan Blanks Niagara to Claim Vital Three Points in AHA Standings

ERIE, Pa. -- Kyle McClellan made Paul Maust's first period goal stand up making 22 saves and claiming his first collegiate shutout in the Lakers 1-0 victory over visiting Niagara.

Maust put the Lakers on the board first and for good when he chipped a Geoff Kitt pass over the shoulder of Niagara goalie Chad Veltri 14:37 into the first period.

McClellan's 22 save masterpiece was the first Laker shutout since Nov. 11, 2018 at Sacred Heart.

The Lakers killed off all three Purple Eagles power plays and blocked 15 shots including several in the final minutes to secure the victory.

Khristian Acosta put four shots on goal while Jonathan Bendorf and Dante Sheriff each recorded three shots.

The Lakers and Purple Eagles are back in action tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in Dwyer Arena.
