Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Women's Basketball starts a seven-game stretch of road games this week, first visiting Notre Dame College in Ohio Wednesday for a 5 p.m. tip.
The Matchup
The Lakers and Falcons have met nine times dating back to 1994. The Lakers are 4-5 all-time against Notre Dame, and the Falcons won their last meeting, 75-66, on Nov. 16, 2019.
Double Trouble
Grace Centrulla became the first Laker to record a double-double this season when she scored 25 points and brought down 12 boards in Sunday's loss to West Liberty. That performance followed a near-double-double in the season opener the night before when she dropped 10 points and brought down nine rebounds. Through the team's first two games, Centrulla is averaging 17.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.
Leading the Way
Centrulla leads the team in both points and rebounds per game, with Julia Buchman right behind her at 12 points per game. Buchman is also 5-for-10 from beyond the arc and 3-for-4 from the free-throw line. Jayde Boyd is close behind in the rebounds category, averaging 9.5 per game.
Scouting the Falcons
Wednesday will be Notre Dame's home opener after suffering a pair of losses to Slippery Rock and Fayetteville State over the weekend. The Falcons are led offensively by Alana Ellis (20 ppg) and Jen Oduho (17.5 ppg), who have each averaged 34 minutes per game. Meanwhile, Tamia Ridley leads the team in rebounds with 10.5 per game, with those split almost evenly between offensive and defensive.
