Football Falls to Seton Hill in PSAC West Action

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst football team dropped a 19-17 decision to visiting Seton Hill Saturday afternoon at Saxon Stadium.

The Lakers jumped out early when Joe Carter connected with Justin Hill for a 28-yard touchdown at the 12:49 mark.

Mercyhurst extended the lead to 14-0 when Carter found a wide-open Trevon Tate for a 68-yard strike with 7:10 left in the first.

The Griffins took control in the second quarter scoring three touchdowns to take a 19-14 advantage into the half.

Brian Alsobrooks connected on a 24-yard field goal with 13:32 to play in the game, but that was as close as the Lakers would get.

Carter finished the game with 125 yards passing and two touchdowns. Dustin Shoaf led the Lakers with 33 rushing yards while Tate paced the receivers with 68 yards.

Defensively, Thomas Zacharyasz tallied 11 stops. Jehrod Gregory, Jacob Holl and Dakari Washington all made nine stops.

The Lakers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Edinboro for a noon kickoff against the Fighting Scots.
