CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with host Cal U Wednesday night in PSAC West action.
Dylan Sumner put the Lakers on the board in the ninth minute. Sumner took a pass from the midfield from Julius Becker and scored from just inside the 18-yard box.
Mercyhurst carried play in the first half, outshooting the Vulcans 5-0 and holding a 4-0 edge in corner kicks at the break.
Cal knotted the game in the 85th minute when Adam Wood found a loose ball off a free kick and put it behind keeper Jonathan Gomes.
Despite being a man down in overtime, the Lakers outshot Cal 5-2 but the extra periods finished scoreless.
Sumner led the Laker attack taking six shots all on goal. Tom Barry also recorded six shots with two on net. Gomes made four saves to earn the tie in net.
The Lakers are back in action on Tuesday when they host LeMoyne at 1 p.m. at Saxon Stadium.
