The Mercyhurst Field Hockey team played away from home on Saturday afternoon as they traveled for a matchup against Kutztown University. The Lakers dropped one to the seventh ranked team in the country by a score of 4-0.
Kutztown broke the seal off the cage in the first quarter when Rachel Dusman scored her ninth goal of the season for the Golden Bears. This gave Kutztown a 1-0 lead, and the game would remain at this score going into the halftime break.Â
Kayla Desormeau made four saves on five shots in cage for the Lakers during the first two quarters of action.
Kutztown tacked on two more goals during the third quarter. The first came at 8:51 mark and the second at the 10:37 mark in the quarter to propel the Golden Bears to a three-goal lead. Alyssa Donato scored her 13th goal of the year for Kutztown in the fourth stanza to close out the scoring in the game.
Desormeau ended the contest with 18 stops in goal. Next up, Mercyhurst will host IUP at home on Wednesday, October 27th at 3:00 p.m.
