Field Hockey Set to Play a Pair PSAC Games this Week

The Mercyhurst University Field Hockey team will be back in action on the road this week. The Lakers will first travel to Seton Hill University on Tuesday to take on the Griffins, following that game Mercyhurst will travel to the campus of Millersville University to square off with the Marauders on Friday at 4:00 p.m.

Last week, Mercyhurst only had one game on their schedule as they welcomed West Chester to Saxon Stadium. The Lakers scored first against the No. 2 team in the country as Evelien Hulshof got the second goal of her freshman campaign. The Lakers held on to that lead up late in the first when West Chester tied it. West Chester showed why they were ranked No. 2 as they went on to win the contest 6-1.

The Games

Since 2012, the Mercyhurst and Seton Hill field hockey programs have matched up against one another seven times. Mercyhurst holds a narrow 4-3 record over the Griffins in those games. Most recently, the teams played at Saxon Stadium in late early October of 2019. The Lakers won that contest by a score of 5-2.

Mercyhurst and Millersville have played 16 times in the program's histories. The perennial powerhouse Marauders have won all 16 games. The Lakers have forced overtime twice against Millersville, most recently in 2014 when the Marauders escaped Erie with a 2-1 victory in double overtime.

Scouting Seton Hill

The Griffins come into their matchup with Mercyhurst holding a 1-10 season record. The Griffs' lone win came in their opening game of the year as they defeated Frostburg State by a score of 2-1.

Scouting Millersville

Millersville currently holds a 9-1 record for their 2021 campaign. The Marauders are ranked No.4 in the latest Division II Field Hockey National Coaches Poll and have highlight wins over Limestone and Kutztown.
