ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's hockey team scored four times in the third period to rally to a 5-2 victory over visiting Air Force Friday night at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
The Lakers trailed 2-0 after a Falcons short-handed tally, but Jonathan Bendorf cut the lead in half with a sharp-angle shot off a face-off scrum 5:38 into the second.
Mercyhurst wasted no time tying the game in the third when Dante Sheriff deposited a Marko Reifenberger rebound just 1:18 into the period.
Michael Bevilacqua scored the eventual game-winner at the 6:18 mark when he walked down the wing and snapped a bad-angle shot.
Paul Maust and Gueorgui Feduolov each tallied empty net goals to set the final.
Feduolov led the Lakers with three points on a goal and two assists. Reifenberger tallied a pair of helpers.
Hank Johnson 11 shots to pick up the win between the pipes.
The Lakers and Falcons square off in the series finale Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
