ERIE, Pa. – Women's Ice Hockey adds transfer goaltender
Ena Nystrom for the 2020-2021 season, making eight newcomers next season.
Nystrom, a native of Stavanger, Norway, comes to Mercyhurst after playing her freshman season at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. During her freshman season she earned a 3.56 goals against average and .915 save percentage.
She will be majoring in Business Management.
Nystrom was named the 2018 WW DIV 1A U18 Most Valuable Player and Best Goaltender in Asiago, Italy. She was named the WW DIV 1A Best Goaltender in Vaujany, France in 2018 and in Budapest, Hungary in 2019.
She is the starting goaltender for the Norwegian National team. Nystrom won the Norwegian League in 2015, 2016 and 2017. She won the Norwegian Championships in 2016 and 2017. Nystrom was given the Hardest Working Female Athlete Award, the Sports Marketing Award and was named to the Honor Roll.
