Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Mercyhurst softball team finished its Spring Break trip with a 5-4 loss to Urbana and a 12-2 loss to Concordia, St. Paul on Friday.
Urbana 5, Mercyhurst 4
Urbana scored two in the third and two in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead. Mercyhurst came back with two runs in the fifth with a single from
Kaitlin Hoffner to score Brianna Egelston and
Madison Fry and two in the sixth inning with a single from Fry to scored
Ashley Thompson and
Emma LeGendre to tie the game at 4-4. Urbana then scored one run in the seventh to take the 5-4 win.
Fry had two hits for Mercyhurst while
Allison Dejidas,
Alyssa Coons and Hoffner had one hit each. Fry and Hoffner each picked up two RBI.
Marisa Cartellone pitched three innings with two strikeouts and three runs on seven hits for the loss.
Cheyenne Hindman pitched four innings with two strikeouts and two runs on five hits.
For Urbana, McKinley Alberts had three hits while Lexi Mattix, Ashley Fite, Mykee Holtz and Mackenzie Frantz had one hit each. Runs were scored by Madison Bryant, Alberts, Mattix, Fite and Frantz.
Sam Davis got the win, pitching one inning with two runs on two hits. Kayleih Pate earned the save with on inning of pitching. Madison Bryant pitched five innings with seven strikeouts, two walks and two runs on three hits.
Concordia St. Paul 12, Mercyhurst 2
Concordia scored one run in the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead before it scored 10 runs in the second and one in the third to make it 12-0. Mercyhurst had two runs in the fifth inning when Hoffner scored Fry and Dejidas scored Balducci.
Fry went 2-for-2 at bat while Dejidas had the only other hit for the Lakers. She grabbed the lone RBI.
Cartellone got the loss, pitching one inning and allowed six runs on six hits. Hoffner pitched three innings with two strikeouts and two runs on six hits. Hindman allowed four runs on three hits.
For Concordia, Kris McIntyre, Hannah Mihalik and Hanna Mortenson had two runs each. Clara Heislen, Hannah Carlson, Amanada Parsons, Grace Beseman, Emma Lero and Meagan Bliese ran across the plate once each.
Bryanna Olson went the distance on the mound with eight strikeouts and four walks.
The Lakers are back in action when they host Clarion for the home opener on March 14.
