Softball Wins 10-2 over Holy Family, Falls 3-0 to University of Mary

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Mercyhurst softball team defeated Holy Family 10-2 before falling to the University of Mary 3-0 during day three of the Spring Break trip on Tuesday.

Mercyhurst scored one in the first, five in the second and two in both the third and fourth inning while Holy Family had two in the fourth for a 10-2 Laker win.
 
Natalie Graff hit a home run earning three RBI. She also went 2-for-2 at bat and had another run. Madison Fry and Brianne Egelston also had two runs each while single runs were earned by Cheyenne Hindman, Haitlin Hoffner, Emma LeGendre and Jenna Balducci. Allison Dejidas and recorded two RBI. Single RBI were earned by Sarah Koshco, Fry, Hindman, Hoffner and LeGendre.
 
Marisa Cartellone earned the win for the Lakers pitching five innings. She recorded two strike outs and allowed two runs on eight hits.
 
For Holy Family, Madison Twaddell and Michelle Slaughter had one run each. Heather Bogardus and Jasmine Martinez had one RBI each. Stephanie Uribe pitched four innings with four walks.
 
University of Mary 3, Mercyhurst 0
University of Mary scored one in the third and two in the fifth to win 3-0.
 
Fry went 2-for-3 at bat while Ashley Thompson, Koscho and Graff had one hit each. Hindman got the loss, pitching five innings and allowing three runs on six hits.
 
For the University of Mary, Sanchez, Berube and Keller recorded runs while Sanchez had two RBI and Pelesauma had one. Beemiller earned the win, going the distance with 10 strike outs.
 
The Lakers continue the Spring Break trip on Thursday with two games. They will play Cedarville at 10:00 a.m. and the College of Saint Rose at 12:15 p.m.
