Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Mercyhurst softball team picked up its first wins of the season 4-2 over Concordia before defeating the University of the Sciences 6-2 on Sunday.

The Lakers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when
Sarah Koscho doubled, sending home
Cheyenne Hindman. The Lakers held the lead until Concordia scored two in the sixth to take a 2-1 lead. Mercyhurst then crossed the plate three times in the seventh and held off Concordia for a 4-2 win.
Brianne Egelston singled, allowing Koscho and Hindman to score, before
Kaitlin Hoffner singled and
Emma LeGendre scored.

Hindman had two runs while LeGendre and Koshco crossed the plate once each. Hoffner and Hindman were 1-for-2 at the plate while Egelston, LeGendre and Kosho had one hit each.

Egelston earned two RBI while single RBI were picked up by Hoffner and Koscho.

Marissa Cartellone picked up her first win, going the distance on the mound. She struck out two batters and allowed only four hits.

For Concordia, Bordonaro and Berezny scored runs while Berezny and Kelly had one RBI each. Shura got the loss on the mound, pitching six innings. She walked five batters and made four errors.

Mercyhurst 6, University of the Sciences 2
The University of the Sciences took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before Mercyhurst rallied for four runs in the second and two in the third to make it 6-1 Lakers. University of the Sciences came back with one run in the fourth but it wasn't enough, as the Lakers won 6-2.

Koscho homered to bring home Hindman and
Allison Dejidas, before LeGendra doubled to score
Natalie Graff.

Jenna Balducci and Koscho both went 2-for-3 at bat. LeGendre also had two hits while
Madison Fry, Hoffner, Dejidas and Graff had one hit each. Koscho earned three RBI while Balducci had two and LeGendre had one.

Hindman got the win pitching five innings. She struck out three batters, allowed four hits and one run. Hoffner pitched two innings, striking out two and allowing one run and one hit.

For University of the Sciences, Simms and Pustizzi had one run each while Higgins and Pustizzi tallied two hits. Single hits were recorded by Sims, Polera and Pietropol. Polera and Pustizzi had one RBI each.

Cencetti earned the loss pitching two innings, allowing seven hits and six runs. She had six errors and walked two batters. Jackson pitched three innings allowing three hits.

The spring break trip continues Monday at 10:15 a.m. against Kentucky Wesleyan. And 12:30 p.m. against West Virginia Wesleyan.
