Women's Ice Hockey Earns First Place in CHA Standings, Falls to Penn State 2-0

Box Score UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team fall 2-0 at Penn State during College Hockey America action on Saturday.
 
Mercyhurst (19-10-5, 13-4-3) clinched the CHA regular season title and will be the number one seed for the CHA tournament. It marks the 17th time in program history that the Lakers have clinched the regular season title.
 
Natalie Heising and Rene Gangarosa scored for Penn State (12-14-8, 7-8-5).
 
During the first period, Heising scored with a wrap around the net to give Penn State a 1-0 lead. Gangarosa scored on the 5-on-3 advantage to make it 2-0 Penn State during the second period.
 
The Lakers went 0-for-3 on the power play while the Nittany Lions were 1-for-4.
 
Kennedy Blair made 16 saves in net for the Lakers while Chantal Burke made 33 saves for Penn State.
 
Mercyhurst is back in action on March 6 for the CHA Semifinals. The Lakers will play the lowest remaining seed at 12:30 p.m.
