Lakers Fall 6-2 to No. 7 Clarkson

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's hockey team dropped a 6-2 decision to visiting No. 7 Clarkson Sunday afternoon at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. 

The Golden Knights jumped out to an early lead with an Alex Campbell goal at the 8:48 mark of the first. Grant Cooper extended the lead to 2-0 with a tally with under a minute left in the first. 

Clarkson scored four times in the second period with Mathieu Gosselin scoring a pair of goals to make the score 6-0 after two. 

Mercyhurst pushed back in the third when Dante Sheriff curled a puck in the high slot and picked a corner on Kris Oldham to cut the lead to 6-1 at the 11:02 mark. 



Justin Cmunt snapped a sharp angle shot and found the back of the net at the 12:45 mark of the third. 



Hank Johnson took the loss in net making 24 saves. Gueorgui Feduolov, Jonathan Bendorf, Dalton Hunter and Josh McDougall each picked up a helper. 

The Lakers are back in action on Wednesday when they host Niagara in their Atlantic Hockey Association opener.
