ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's hockey team dropped a 6-2 decision to visiting No. 7 Clarkson Sunday afternoon at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
The Golden Knights jumped out to an early lead with an Alex Campbell goal at the 8:48 mark of the first. Grant Cooper extended the lead to 2-0 with a tally with under a minute left in the first.
Clarkson scored four times in the second period with Mathieu Gosselin scoring a pair of goals to make the score 6-0 after two.
Mercyhurst pushed back in the third when
Dante Sheriff curled a puck in the high slot and picked a corner on Kris Oldham to cut the lead to 6-1 at the 11:02 mark.
Justin Cmunt snapped a sharp angle shot and found the back of the net at the 12:45 mark of the third.
Hank Johnson took the loss in net making 24 saves.

The Lakers are back in action on Wednesday when they host Niagara in their Atlantic Hockey Association opener.
