Balanced Offense Helps Men's Basketball Run By Ferris State

ERIE, Pa. - For the second day in a row the Mercyhurst Men's Basketball team showcased a very balanced offensive attack as the Lakers had six players reach double-digit points as they routed No. 11 Ferris State University for the second time this weekend at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center on Sunday afternoon winning by a score of 87-57.

Mercyhurst began the afternoon with a bang as just six-seconds in MiyKah McIntosh drilled a three, which was followed up on the ensuing possession by a Daniel Ogele layup for the quick 5-0 edge.  Ferris State responded with a 10-3 charge thanks to Jeremiah Washington, Logan Ryan, Ben Davidson and Mason Pline to take a 10-8 lead.  The visitors continued to hold the advantage to the midway point of the frame with buckets by Quantes Jackson and Aidan Shore pushing the margin to 20-14.  Michael Bradley, Nicholas Lang and Melkisedek Moreaux all scored to give the host a slim lead.  However, the Bulldogs answered back with five straight to reclaim the 25-21 edge.  With the Lakers trailing 27-25 with 5:48 remaining, Lang hit a layup to draw even, before, Cameron Gross, Zach McIntire, Steve Cannady and McIntosh closed the half on a 12-4 charge to take a 37-31 cushion to the half.

After the two sides exchanged points to start the second half, McIntosh, Bradley and McIntire helped the Lakers push the lead over double-figures accounting for 11 of the ensuing 18 points to make it 48-37.  A Jackson foul shot trimmed the margin to ten, but Moreaux, Lang and Cannady answered back with a 7-0 push bumping the lead to 57-40 with 6:27 gone.  Ferris State hung around however as baskets from Jimmy Scholler and Logan (two-times) got them within a dozen.  The last time coming with 8:21 remaining at 61-49.  The next trip down the floor Pline made it 61-51, giving the 'Dogs some hope.  However, Lang kickstarted an 14-2 stampede aided by McIntosh and Ogele to take a 10-point edge and more than double it out to 76-53 with less than four to go.  McIntire, Moreaux and Cannady all scored down the stretch to close out the 87-57 triumph.
