ERIE, Pa. - Coming off a thrilling 2-1 shootout win over the visiting Crimson Hawks of Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Wednesday afternoon the Mercyhurst field hockey team is back at it on Friday as top-ranked Millersville University comes to Saxon Stadium for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opener at 6pm.
Scouting the Lakers:
Mercyhurst enters the game with a record of 2-5 overall. In the game against Indiana (Pa.) the Lakers were led by
Alexis Skibitsky who scored the team's lone goal in regulation as well as picking up the game-winner in the shootout.
Clare Ahern and Hayley Skimore also tacked on goals in the shootout to aid in the victory. In the cage
Libby Jones made ten stops as well as going a perfect three-for-three in the shootout. For the season, Skibitsky leads the team with three goals, while Ahern has buried one. Jones has recorded 47 saves on a .667 save percentage.
Scouting the Marauders:
Millersville comes in with a mark of 6-0 to begin the season. The Marauders average 3.00 goals per game on 22.0 shots with a .598 shots on goal percentage. Erica Tarsi paces the attack with five goals and a dozen points, while Asia Weaver has chipped in three goals on the campaign. Ten other Millersville players have totaled a goal apiece. Autumn Peters has only been forced to make 13 stops between the pipes.
Series History:
This will be the second meeting between the two sides in less than a week after the Marauders grabbed a 5-0 victory at home last Sunday. In that game four different Millersville players scored goals with Tarsi notching a pair. For the Lakers, Jones was busy making 10 saves on the afternoon. Mercyhurst has never been able to knock off the Marauders.
