Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. —
Connor Wilkinson scores two goals, including the overtime game winning goal, as the Mercyhurst men's soccer team defeated the University of the District of Columbia, 4-3, during non conference action on Saturday.
Hady Sarr and
Ian Harris also scored for Mercyhurst (2-0-1).
UDC (1-4-0) got on the board first during the 12th minute with a goal from Malik Thom. Pierre LaNoire then scored in the 21st minute to give the Firebirds a 2-0 lead.
Eight minutes later, Harris put the Lakers on the board with his second goal of the season.
In the 53rd minute, UDC scored again to take back its two goal lead.
Mercyhurst came back with two goals in a seven minute span to tie the game at 3-3 and send it into overtime. Wilkinson scored in the 76th minute before Sarr scored his first goal of the season during the 83rd minute with an assist from Wilkinson.
Less than a minute into overtime, Wilkinson scored his second goal of the game to give Mercyhurst a 4-3 win.
In net,
Martin Jarc made two saves for the Lakers while Javier Abadia made nine saves for UDC.
The Lakers are back in action on Sept. 24 when they travel to Dominican College for a 1:00 p.m. game.
