ERIE, Pa.—The Mercyhurst baseball team fell to Charleston (WV) in game one of the Atlantic Super Regional 10-2.
 
Josh Surowiec, Matthew Schneider and Matthew Gibson had the Lakers three hits.Surowiec and Schneider both had solo homers to give Mercyhurst its two runs of the game.
 
For Charleston, Morello and Dudek led the team with three hits and also tallied two RBI each. Six different players had multi-hit games for UC for a total of 17 team hits.Henrich (5-2) had a stellar performance on the mound going the complete game, only allowing three hits, two earned runs and struck out 10.
 
In the first, Charleston struck early after the first batter of the inning reached on an error.The Golden Eagles turned this into momentum with three runs off of two hits and two Laker errors. Mercyhurst failed to answer back going three, up three down to close the first inning.
 
The maroon and gold would add another run in the fourth and fifth before putting up five runs in the sixth to take a 10-0 lead.MU failed to answer going three up, three down again before Josh Surowiec gave the Lakers their first hit of the game off a solo homerun in the seventh inning.Schneider would follow Surowiec's homerun with one of his own in the ninth but it wouldn't be enough as the Lakers would fall 10-2 in the opening game of the Atlantic Super Regional.
 
Matthew Minnick (6-3) got the loss in today's matchup going 5.1 innings, allowing eight runs and striking out six.
 
Up Next: The Lakers will host game two of the Super Regional as well tomorrow at 11:00 AM.  Game three will be at 3:30 PM if Mercyhurst wins game two of the three game series.
