TEMPE, Ariz. – Mercyhurst tennis players
Sangeeta Roopan,
Kayla Frost and
Arseniy Sklyarov and head coach
Jerome Simon were selected for 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division II Regional Awards as announced by the association on Wednesday.

All for the Atlantic Region, Roopan was named the ITA Rookie of the Year, Frost was named the ITA Most Improved Senior and Sklyarov was named the ITA Player to Watch. Simon was named as the Wilson/ITA Coach of the Year for the men's division.

Roopan earned a 20-7 overall record for sinlges, including a 6-0 mark in conference play. She was 19-6 at No. 2 singles. In doubles she put forth a 22-11 record with a 5-1 tally in conference action. While playing with Frost at No. 1 doubles they earned a 16-10 record. Roopan was also named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Western Division Freshman of the Year and to the All-Conference First Team for singles and doubles.

Frost put forth a 15-12 over recorded with a 5-1 mark in conference action. She was 13-10 at No. 1 singles. She was 21-11 in doubles and 5-1 in conference. At No. 1 doubles she went 16-10 with Roopan. Frost was also named to the PSAC Women's Tennis Western Division All-Conference First Team for singles and doubles.

Sklyarov earned a 12-4 overall record and 5-0 conference record in singles. He went 4-0 at No. 4, 7-1 at No. 5 and 1-3 at No. 6 singles. He put forth a 15-6 record in doubles, including a 4-1 mark in conference action. He was 15-5 at No. 2 doubles, playing with
Ruairidh Fraser and
Claudius Zimmer. Sklyarov was also named to the PSAC Men's Tennis All-Conference Second Team for doubles.

Simon was also named the PSAC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.Â
