ERIE, Pa. – Head Coach
Michael Sisti of the Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team has announced team captains for the 2019-20 season. Senior forward
Maggie Knott, senior forward
Michele Robillard and junior forward
Alexa Vasko are tri-captains.
"We are excited to announce our Captains for the 2019-20 season. In most seasons, we have had one captain and two or three assistant captains to lead our team. One time in our 20 years, we had co-captains. This year we have plenty of leadership throughout our locker room and want everyone to contribute to our success. Three players have emerged as our strongest leaders each with different sets of skills that can help our team excel. They are
Maggie Knott,
Michele Robillard, and
Alexa Vasko. We have decided to name all three of them as Captains and go with a Tri Captain approach for our up-coming season. Each of them are outstanding honor students who are striving for excellence in all areas of their lives. These bright ladies combine their intelligence with a competitive drive that allows them showcase their athletic abilities every time they wear the Mercyhurst uniform. The mix of our returners along with our newcomers and this leadership group should produce some exciting hockey for our fans next season," said Sisti.
Knott enters her fourth season with 106 games played. She has tallied 22 goals and 46 assists for 68 points. Knott has picked up five game winning goals, four power play goals and has blocked 60 shots in the defensive zone. She was named one the team's alternate captains during the 2018-19 season.
Robillard has played in 99 games in her three seasons. She has recorded seven goals and tallied 20 assists for 27 points. She has blocked 30 shots in the defensive zone and has picked out one game winning goal and one empty net goal.
