GREENSBURG, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst women's tennis team defeated California (Pa.), 6-1, in a PSAC West matchup on Friday.

Playing with only five players, the Lakers swept both doubles matches contested on the courts and 5 of 5 singles contests. MU forfeitted one doubles match and one singles point.

DOUBLES

• Kayla Frost and Sangeeta Roopan earned a 6-1 decision at No. 1 doubles over Jo Weisen and Carolin Ganahl.
• Athina Tsagkaraki and Naomi Jahr followed with a 6-2 victory against Charlie Gallagher and Elizabeth Wohar at No. 2 pairs. That win secured the 1-0 lead through doubles action.

SINGLES

• Hannah Wenzel closed out the Lakers' first singles point at No. 5 as she bested Emily Suckling, 6-0, 6-2.
• Roopan pushed the MU edge to 3-0 with her win at No. 2 singles. She defeated Ganahl, 6-1, 6-0.
• Frost clinched the team victory at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-1, win versus Weisen.
• Tsagkaraki and Jahr tacked on singles points after the clinch. Tsagkaraki defeated Gallagher, 6-2, 6-1, at third singles, while Jahr handled Elizabeth Wohar, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 4.
