ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst softball team fell 4-1 and 9-4 to Slippery Rock during Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play on Wednesday at the Mercyhurst Softball Field.
The Lakers are back in action on April 26 for Senior Day when they host Edinboro for a double header starting at 2:30 p.m.
Slippery Rock 4, Mercyhurst 1
Mercyhurst took an early 1-0 lead before Slippery Rock scored two in the fourth and two in the seventh inning to win 4-1.
Natalie Graff scored the lone run as she hit a home run. She went 2-for-3 at bat.
Emma LeGendre also had a hit for Mercyhurst.
Tori Pierucci went the distance on the mound. She struck out four batters and allowed three earned runs.
For Slippery Rock, Caitlyn MacKelvey went 3-for-3 while Leah Vith went 2-for-3. Addy Nicholson and Maggie Moore each had one hit.
Nicholson hit a home run while Megan Brown, Becca Roesch and MacKelvey also had one run each.
Camie Shumaker went the distance for the Rock. She struck out six batters and allowed one earned run.
Slippery Rock 9, Mercyhurst 4
Mercyhurst took a 4-0 lead in the first inning before Slippery Rock came back with two runs in the third, two in the fourth, one in the sixth and four in the seventh inning to win 9-4.

Taylor Fry, LeGendre and Graff recorded one hit each for the Lakers.
Ellie Dougher, LeGendre, Graff and Balducci scored one run apiece.
Pierucci was the losing pitcher for Mercyhurst. She pitched three innings.
Laura Gregory pitched three innings while striking out four batters and allowing three earned runs.
For Slippery Rock, Nicholson had three hits, including a homerun, while Alexa Guglielmino and Moore had two hit each. Single hits were earned by Megan Brown, Kailey Myers and Roesch.
Brown, Roesch and Guglielmino had two runs each while Regan Hozak, Myers and Nicholson recorded one run apiece.
Shumaker was the winning pitcher for Slippery Rock. She pitched six innings while striking out two batters and walking four. Chloe Sharman pitched half an inning while allowing four earned runs.
