GREENSBURG, Pa – The Mercyhurst softball team fell 4-0 and 7-1 to Seton Hill during Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Thursday.
The Lakers are back in action on April 20, when they host Slippery Rock for a double header starting at 1:00 p.m.
Seton Hill 4, Mercyhurst 0 (7 inn)
Seton Hill scored two runs in the second inning and two in the fourth inning to win 4-0.
Emma LeGendre and
Natalie Graff recorded hits for the Lakers.
Tori Pierucci was the losing pitcher for Mercyhurst. She pitched four innings while striking out one batter and allowing four earned runs.
Laura Gregory pitched two innings.
For Seton Hill, Devyn Terry recorded three hits, one run and four RBI. She also had a home run. Megan Miller recorded two runs while Alexis Vargas had a single run.
Terry went the distance on the mound while striking out five batters and walking four.
Seton Hill 7, Mercyhurst 1 (7 inn)
Mercyhurst took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning before Seton Hill scored one run in the second inning to tie the game at 1-1. The Griffins then scored two runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to win 7-1.
Erin Sammarco scored the lone run for the Lakers and she also had one hit.
Jenna Balducci and
Jamie Ward each tallied one hit as well. Ward picked up the lone RBI.
Pierucci pitched four innings while allowing three earned runs. Gregory also pitched while allowing four earned runs.
For Seton Hill, Abby Thrower and Miller recorded two runs each while single runs were earned by Jenna Osikowicz, Christina Skrabak and Trinity Cumo.
Thrower hit a home run and Osikowicz had a triple.
Skyla Greco was the winning pitcher for Seton Hill. She went the distance while striking out five batters and allowing one earned run.
