Box Score 2 EDINBORO, Pa – The Mercyhurst softball team fell 7-4 and 8-0 to Edinboro during Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play on Wednesday.
The Lakers are back in action on April 18 when they travel to Seton Hill for a double header starting at 1:00 p.m.
Edinboro 7, Mercyhurst 4 (7 inn.)
Edinboro scored three runs in the first inning, one in the second and two in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead. Mercyhurst came back with four runs in the fifth inning but it wasn't enough as Edinboro added one more run in the sixth inning to end it 7-4.
Ellie Dougher went 2-for-4 while
Emma LeGendre,
Natalie Graff,
Sarah Koscho,
Chloe McQuestion and
Taylor Fry each had one hit.
Koscho and LeGendre hit homers while Dougher and Fry also scored one run each.
LeGendre led the Lakers with three RBI and Graff recorded a double.
Tori Pierucci was the losing pitcher for Mercyhurst while pitching four innings. She struckout two batters and allowed six earned runs.
Laura Gregory pitched two innings while allowing one earned run.
For Edinboro, Danna Heh had three hits, Olivia Jankowski and Roni Lipinski had two hits and single hits were recorded by Lauren Gierlak, Victoria Allocco and Abby Sallot.
Heh had three runs, Sallot scored two runs and Gierlak and Jankowski recorded one run each.
Gierlak and Lipinski had two RBI each.
Amanada Metz earned the win, pitching five innings while striking out six batters and allowing four earned runs. Carley Nasca pitched two innings and earned the save.
Edinboro 8, Mercyhurst 0 (5 inn.)
Edinboro took another early 4-0 lead in the first inning. The Fighting Scots added one run in the second, two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to win 8-0.
Dougher and Gregory had one hit each for Mercyhurst (9-26, 3-9).
Gregory went the distance on the mound while striking out two batters and allowing five earned runs.
Josey Moorhead also pitched for the Lakers.
For Edinboro (15-15, 6-6), Lipinski had two hits while Shannon Gilbert, Brittney Allen, Heh, Gierlak and Jankowski had one hit each. Runs were recorded by Gierlak, Jankowski, Lipinski, Heh and Allen.
Nasca earned the win, pitching three innings. She struck out two batters and walked two. Amanda Metz also pitched two innings.
