Women's Lacrosse Pushes Win Streak To Four With Victory At Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team defeated Millersville, 10-7, in PSAC action on Saturday. The victory is the Lakers' fourth straight win.

Key Numbers
  • Payton Cook was the leading goal-scorer, totaling three tallies for MU (8-5, 5-3).
  • Leading point-getter Brenna Fosco finished with two goals and two assists.
  • Emma Hubert had two goals and one assist. She leads the team with 53 goals and 61 points.
  • Single goals were sent home by Paige Cocina, Angelina Simon and Julia Rescott. Cocina also had three draw controls and two caused turnovers.
  • Also for the Lakers, Lacey Netti had an assist, Kira Kolb made four draw controls and Diana Schmitt caused two turnovers. Netti now leads thye squad with 38 helpers while Kolb has a team-high 77 DCs.
  • Winning goalie Kaitlyn Lippert accumulated nine saves and improved her record to 4-1.
  • For Millersville, Genevieve Speights scored three goals and Shannon Davis stopped eight shots in the cage.

Game Summary
  • Three lead changes happened in the first half; the third change was also the last as the Lakers turned a 4-3 deficit into a 6-4 lead.
  • Down 4-3, MU got goals from Fosco and Cocina to take a 5-4 edge into intermission. Cook tacked on another score to widen the gap to two goals.
  • After Millersville closed the deficit back to 6-5, the Lakers went on a decisive four-goal run. Hubert scored twice in that stretch before Fosco had a goal and then Rescott put in Mercyhurst's 10th score.
  • The host Marauders (7-6, 5-3)  came back with a pair of goals before time expired.

Next Up
  • The Lakers will host Slippery Rock (5-7, 4-5) on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. PSAC contest at Tullio Field.
