Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. – The Mercyhurst softball team fell 7-2 to Minnesota State Mankato and 8-0 to St. Cloud on Wednesday.
The Lakers continue their Spring Break trip on March 7 when they take on LUI Post at 9:00 a.m. and then Assumption at 11:15 a.m.
Minnesota 7, Mercyhurst 2
Minnesota took an early 4-0 lead with two runs in each of the first two innings. Mercyhurst scored its only two runs on the game in the second inning before Minnesota added three more runs in the sixth.
Megan Minihane and
Paige Crittela went 2-for-3 and had one run each for the Lakers.
Taylor Fry had two hits and tallied both of the team's RBI while
Jolene Teller had one hit.
Tori Pierucci pitched five innings for the Lakers. She allowed four runs on six hits and struck out five batters.
Laura Gregory also pitched two innings for Mercyhurst.
McKenzie Paap and Kayle Moky scored two runs each for Minnesota (10-5) while single runs were earned by Carly Esselman, Haylee Bridges and Courtney Potter.
Julia Bastian was the winning pitcher for Minnesota as she pitched four innings.
St. Cloud 8, Mercyhurst 0
St. Cloud took a 3-0 lead in the second inning before scoring two in the third, one in the fourth and fifth in the second.
Alyssa Coons and Minihane both went 1-for-2 for Mercyhurst.
Pierucci went the distance for the Lakers, pitching five innings while striking out four batters.
Alexandra Pinkowski and Maya Keating had two runs for St. Cloud while Brooke Bowlin, Sydney Trees, Megan Conrads and Cassie Francesconi each had one run. Pinkowski also lead St. Cloud with two RBI.
Sydney Lapoint was the winning pitcher for St. Cloud as she allowed two hits.
