Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. – The Mercyhurst softball team split day three of its Spring Break trip with a 2-1 loss to Ashland and 2-1 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Monday.
The Lakers are back in action March 6 against Minnesota State – Mankato at 9 a.m. and St. Cloud at 11:15 a.m.
Ashland 2, Mercyhurst 1 (7 inn.)
Emma LeGendre went 2-for-2 at bat for the Lakers. She had the lone RBI and had two doubles.
Jenna Balducci and
Paige Crittela had one hit each for Mercyhurst.
Tori Pierucci pitched six innings for the Lakers. She gave up two runs on five hits and struck out four batters.
The Lakers' only score of the game came in the sixth inning when they were down 2-0. LeGendre hit a double while
Meredith Grimes scored for the Lakers.
Mercyhurst 2, West Virginia Wesleyan 1 (9 inn.)
The Lakers won in the bottom of the ninth off of a squeeze bunt by LeGendre and run from
Taylor Fry.
Ellie Dougher and Fry had hits for Mercyhurst. Dougher also tallied the game tying RBI in the bottom of the eighth.
Pierucci was the winning pitcher going the distance for Mercyhurst. She allowed six hits, but did not allow an earned run. She had nine strikeouts.
