INDIANA, Pa. – The Mercyhurst softball team picked up a 6-3 win and 4-1 win over Indiana, Pa. on Sunday.
The Lakers are back in action for their first home game of the season on March 26 when they host Lake Erie for a double header starting at 1:00 p.m.
Mercyhurst 6, IUP 3 (7 inn.)
Mercyhurst took an early 2-1 lead in the first inning, before pulling away with three more runs in the second. IUP added one run in the third to make it 5-2. Both teams added one more run in the sixth inning to give Mercyhurst its third win of the season.
Ellie Dougher lead the Lakers going 2-for-3 and adding two runs.

Taylor Fry each had one hit and one run while
Jolene Teller and
Paige Crittela tallied one hit a piece.
Single RBI were recorded by
Alyssa Coons,
Sarah Koscho, Graff, Ward and Teller.
Tori Pierucci was the winning pitcher for Mercyhurst going the distance on the mount. She recorded six strikeouts and allowed two earned runs.
Chloe McQuestion and Graff each stole a base while Ward and Teller recorded doubles.
For IUP, Lauren Goetz had two runs while Brooklyn Kotula had one run. Kaitlyn Beers, Renee Wall, Jackie Toki, Goetz and Kotula had one hit each.
Cassidy Graham was the losing pitcher for IUP, pitching one inning and allowing two earned runs. Lauren Zola pitched five innings while Megan Risinger also pitched.
Mercyhurst 4, IUP 1 (7 inn.)
Mercyhurst took a 1-0 lead in the second inning before scoring two runs in the fourth inning. IUP also had one run in the fourth inning to make it 3-1. The Lakers then added one run in the seventh inning to finish the sweep with a 4-1 win.
Sarah Koscho had two home runs for Mercyhurst (4-17) while Fry and Coons had the Lakers other runs.
Meredith Grimes, Dougher, Fry and Crittela each had one hit.
Fry, LeGendre, Grimes and Crittela each stole a base.
Laura Gregory was the winning pitcher for Mercyhurst, striking out two batters in four innings and allowing one earned run.
Pierucci also pitched three innings for Mercyhurst.
For IUP (4-15-1), Sara Hull had the lone run while Rachel Rodriguez, Kotula and Wall each had a hit.
Lauren Zola was the losing pitcher for IUP, pitching four innings while allowing three earned runs and striking out one batter. Kotula also pitched three innings.
