ERIE, Pa.—The Mercyhurst baseball team won its first home game of the season on Wednesday over Lake Erie College, 17-0.

Dom DeRenzo had a huge day for the Lakers with three homeruns on the day going 4 of 5 from the plate.  DeRenzo also recorded team high eight RBI on the day. Â
Alex O'Donnell was second on the team in hits with three.Â

Christian Young earned the win for Mercyhurst (7-1) pitching 5.2 innings, with nine strikeouts, only allowing 2 hits and earned the shutout. Â

Brian D' Andr was the losing pitcher for Lake Erie College (5-5) allowing four, facing nine batters, allowing two runs.

DeRenzo opened up the scoring with the Lakers off a two-run homer giving the Lakers a 2-0 lead in the second.  Surowiec would score on a SAC fly from Snyder.  Later in the inning, DeRenzo would single scoring Cecere making the score 4-0 Lakers. Going into the fifth, DeRenzo would hit his second homer of the day but this time it would be a three-run blast. In the sixth, DeRenzo would strike again hitting a two-run blast, extending the score 10-0 MU. In the later innings, Mercyhurst would pour on seven more runs to earn its seventh straight win.Â
Next Up: The Lakers will host Saginaw Valley State University for three games this weekend.
