ERIE, Pa. --
Trystan Pratapas scored 16 points, leading a trio of Mercyhurst scorers in double-figures, as the Laker men's basketball team shot more than 60 percent in its 88-42 win over PSAC opponent Clarion on Wednesday at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
Jason Massey added 11 points and
Zach McIntire put in 10 for Mercyhurst (16-4, 11-4), which stretched its winning streak to eight games. That stretch is the longest MU win streak since an eight-game run in 2015-16.
Patrick Smith added 11 rebounds and four steals to the Laker effort.
Derrick Ellis Jr. dished nine assists.
Clarion (4-15, 2-13) was led by Steven Rodriguez, who had 17 points.
MU jumped out to a 12-2 lead and never looked back. Smith had five points during that early stretch while Masson put in four and Ellis had three.
The Lakers added a 9-0 run later in the first, getting four points from McIntire during the charge, and took a 48-22 advantage into halftime.
A 14-0 run by Mercyhurst widened the gap to 60-24 early in the second half. The Lakers' largest lead was 51 points.
From the field, MU was 36 of 58 from the field (62.1 percent) while Clarion was 18 of 51 (35.3). Mercyhurst held a 41-20 rebound advantage.
The Lakers will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 13, with a 7:30 p.m. PSAC game at Slippery Rock.
