ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst women's tennis team bounced back from an early setback in doubles to storm past Ashland, 5-2, in non-conference play at the Westwood Racquet Club on Sunday.

The visiting Eagles swept all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead before MU took 5 of 6 singles matches, clinching the result on a win by Athina Tsagkaraki at No. 4.

With MU trailing 1-0, Ivona Plecevic got the Lakers on the board with her 6-1, 6-0, victory over Huntyr Lake at third singles. Kayla Frost followed with a win at No. 1 over Gabriella Hudec, 6-0, 6-4.

At No. 2 singles, Sangeeta Roopan took a 6-2, 6-2, decision against Camille Ringot to give MU a 3-1 advantage. That set the stage for Tsagkaraki's 6-4, 6-1, win against Anna Hart.

Hannah Wenzel tacked on a point at No. 6 singles with a win over Allison Brooks, 6-1, 7-5.

The Lakers will return to action on Sunday, Mar. 3, with a non-conference match at Tusculum.
