ERIE, Pa.—The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will travel cross-town to take on rival Gannon on Saturday for part two of the Porreco Pride of Erie Game.

Previous Game Against the Golden Knights

• Amber Renz scored 14 points and earned the Game Changer Award as the Mercyhurst women's basketball team defeated cross-town rival Gannon, 72-66, in a Porreco Pride of Erie matchup at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.  Emily Shopene added 14 points and Kori Sidwell finished with 11 points for the Lakers.  Jenna Kunst grabbed nine rebounds.
• This was the Lakers 30th win all-time against Gannon and could sweep the season against GU like they did in back in the 2016-17 season

• MU is ninth in the conference in points per game averaging 67.7
• Second in the PSAC in three point field goal percentage (.351)
• Fourth in three point field goals made with 6.9 per game

Leading the Lakers

• Shopene sits a top of the conference at number five averaging four assists per game, she also leads the with other sophomore Eliza Oswalt in rebounds averaging 4.2
• Nicolete Newman leads the team averaging 12.1 points per game and in steals with 46 on the year with Amber Renz right behind her scoring 11.1 points per game
• Oswalt is on the brink of breaking double-digits as she averages 9.4 per game
• Lauren Lapertosa and Meghan Komendarek lead the team in blocked shots with 15 each on the season

Keys for Gannon

• GU has the 14th ranked offense in the conference averaging 63.8 points per game
• While on the defensive side is fifth only giving up 65.6 points per game

 
Leading the Golden Knights

• Nicole LaCava is 16th in the conference and leads the team in points averaging 13.4 per game
• Tori Obenrader leads in boards with 6.9 per game and is also 16th in the PSAC
• Sydney Mitchell averages 3.7 assists for GU and is 9th in the conference
• Chelsea Rourke is fourth in the conference in blocked shots with 1.5 per game

Playoff Implications

• The Lakers currently are currently on the outside looking in at the PSAC playoffs sitting 1 1/2 games out of the sixth seeded team Gannon
• With already winning the first meeting against GU, a win on Saturday night will be a huge win for the Lakers and will only then sit  one game out with two games remaining after tomorrow
