Women's Basketball Travels to Slippery Rock Looking to Stay in Playoff Hunt

ERIE, Pa.--The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will travel to Slippery Rock and Will Look to Stay in the Playoff Race

  • The Mercyhurst women's basketball team dropped a 73-65 contest to PSAC opponent Clarion on Wednesday at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. Emily Shopene was the Lakers' leading scorer, finishing with 17 points. Amber Renz added 12 points and Kori Sidwell finished with 11 points and four steals for Merchurst (8-14, 5-10).
  • The Lakers outscored Clarion, 23-13, in the final period. They went on an 8-0 run -- a jumper by Jenna Kunst, a 3-pointer by Shopene and a 3 by Chessar -- to close the gap to 69-62 with 1:10 to go, but Clarion held on the rest of the way.
