Box Score POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision to fifth ranked Clarkson on Saturday during non-conference action.
Michele Robillard scored the lone goal for the Lakers while
Emma Nuutinen and
Sam Isbell had assists. The Lakers killed off all nine penalties on the night. Mercyhurst was 16-for-16 on the penatly kill throughout the series.
Clarkson got on the board first at 10:13 of the first period to take an early lead with a goal from Elizabeth Giguere on the four-on-four.
After a scoreless second period, Brooke McQuigge scored for Clarkson to make it 2-0 on the four-on-four.
With less than a minute remaining in the third period, Robillard scored on the power play and with the extra attacker to bring the Lakers within one. Nuutinen and Isbell had assists.
Mercyhurst found the back of the net again, but the buzzer went off first.
Kennedy Blair made 35 saves in net for Mercyhurst (7-4-1, 4-0-0) while Marie-Pier Coulombe made 22 saves for Clarkson.
The Golden Knights were 0-for-9.
The Lakers have the weekend off before welcoming Union to the Mercyhurst Ice Center on Nov. 29-30. Puck drops at 3:05 p.m. on Friday and 2:05 p.m. on Saturday.
