Box Score HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team fell 2-1 in its season opener at Colgate on Friday during non-conference action.
 
Alexa Vasko scored while Rachel Marmen had an assist for Mercyhurst (0-1-0).
 
At 15:57 of the first period, Colgate got on the board first with a goal from Eleri MacKay.
 
During the second period, Vasko took the faceoff, tipped it back to Marmen who then passed it back for Vasko to sneak it past Colgate goaltender Lix Auby on the power play to tie it at 1-1.
 
With 52 seconds remaining in the second period, Colgate took the lead back and gave it an eventual 2-1 win. Noemi Neubaurove scored the goal for the Raiders.
 
Kennedy Blair made 25 saves for Mercyhurst while Auby made 17 saves for Colgate.
 
The Lakers went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Raiders were 0-for-4.
 
The two teams are back in action Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
