Men’s Hockey Falls to Visiting St. Lawrence

ERIE, Pa. --The Mercyhurst men's hockey team dropped a 3-2 decision to visiting St. Lawrence Saturday night at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. 

The Saints got on the board first with a Kaden Pickering goal 2:00 into the first. The lead grew to 2-0 late in the second on a Ryan Garvey tally. 

Mercyhurst cut the lead in half when Dalton Hunter netted a power play goal with 1:03 left in the second assisted by Steven Ipri and Josh McDougall

Zach Risteau pushed the lead to 3-1 with 8:06 remaining. James Anderson scored with the net empty with seven seconds remaining to set the final. 

The Lakers peppered the Saints goalie Daniel Mannella with 42 shots led by five by Anderson. 

Goalie Garrett Metcalf made 24 saves for the Lakers and is now 2-2 on the season. 

The Lakers return to action on Oct. 25 when they welcome Ohio State to the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m.
