• The women's basketball team couldn't keep their halftime lead losing 62-56 on Saturday. Despite the loss, Eliza Oswalt earned a double-double scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds in the conference loss to California (Pa.). Rachel Chessar also scored 13 points and recorded 4 rebounds and led the Lakers in three-pointers (3), respectively.
• Looking in the second half, with just under seven minutes to go in the third, Jenna Kunst would hit a jumper extending the Mercyhurst lead to eight (41-33), but the Vulcans would not go away. California would immediately go on a 7-0 run making the score 41-40, before Seairra Barret would get a basket and be fouled. She would make the free throw and put CAL U up 45-43 for its first lead of the game. In the fourth, the Vulcans would go up by six until Mercyhurst responded with a 6-0 run starting with an Oswalt made jumper and eventually tying the game with a layup by her as well. With three minutes to go in the game, Cal would go on another run of six and eventually close out the potential upset 62-56. MU shot 36.4 percent in the second while CAL U shot 35.1 percent.

• California (Pa.) spoiled the Lakers upset bid after the Mercyhurst led the majority of the game until the seven minute mark of the third before the Vulcans came storming back, eventually beating MU by six, 62-56.
• The Lakers have two players averaging double digits each game with Amber Renz leading the way with 11.4 per game with Oswalt right behind her with 10.1. Emily Shopene is on the brink of breaking double digits as she sits at 9.5 points per game. Shopene also leads the team in assists and sits 5th in the PSAC (4.5). Lauren Lapertosa and Oswalt both lead the team in rebounds with 4.3.
• As a team, Mercyhurst is number three in the conference in three point field goal percentage (.342) and third in field goals made (7.2). MU is 10th in the conference scoring 68.1 per game and is 12th defensively giving up 70 points per game.

Keys for Edinboro

• Edinboro is looking to win its third straight game after a road win at Clarion 92-45 (Jan. 23) and a home win against Slippery Rock 85-64 (Jan. 26).
• Some key players to watch for the Fighting Scots are Michaela Barnes and Jontay Walton. Barnes averages 18.5 points per game putting her fifth in the conference while Walton sits in seventh averaging 18.1 per game. Barnes is also number seven in field goal percentage (.511).
• Walton is also at the top of many categories including sixth in three point field goal percentage (.371) and number four in assists (4.4). Ciara Rosten is a big contributor for the Fighting Scots ranking second in the conference in blocked shots (2.5 per game) and sixth in rebounds (8.1).

All-Time Series Against Edinboro

• The Fighting Scots lead the series 51-12. Last year, EU took both games against the Lakers with the first one coming on the road 73-54 and the second at home, 81-63.
