Previous Game
  • Mercyhurst began the game 8 of 9 from the field. Renz capped that stretch with a layup early in the second quarter, closing the Lakers' deficit to 23-22 before the visiting Mountain Cats pulled away with a 9-0 run. UPJ led 37-31 at halftime, but four points from Kunst closed the gap to 37-35 in the third. Johnstown then went on another 9-0 run. Mercyhurst trailed 46-40 after three quarters, but eventually closed its deficit to 51-47 before the Cats pushed their lead back to nine and held on the rest of the way.

Keys for Mercyhurst
  • The Lakers have two scorers in double-digits with Renz leading the way with 12 and Eliza Oswalt right behind her with 10.1 points.

  • Lauren Lapertosa leads the team in rebounds averaging 4.4 per game including team high, five last game against UPJ.

  • Shopene is fourth in the conference in assists averaging 4.5 per game

  • As a team,  MU is seventh in the PSAC in scoring averaging 68.6 points per game with its season high 89 coming against Wheeling Jesuit (Dec. 15)

  • The Lakers are also third in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (.341) and fourth in three-point field goals made with 7.4
Keys for Gannon
  • The Golden Knights are coming into the matchup on a winning streak of three beating Seton Hill, 76-65 (Jan. 12), Edinboro, 71-57 (Jan. 16) and Clarion, 62-53 (Jan. 21). Before tying its largest win streak of the season, Gannon was on its largest skid of the season dropping four-straight conference games. Just like Mercyhurst, Gannon had to reschedule its game against Clarion for Monday as well giving both teams little time to prepare for the Porreo Cup on Wednesday.

  •  Nicole LaCava leads the Golden Knights in points averaging 14.8 per game and leads the conference in field goal percentage (.667).

  • Sydney Mitchell is 10th in the PSAC in assists per game (3.7).

  • Recording 1.6 blocks per game, Chelsea Rourke is also a top of the conference sitting third in blocks per game.

  • Gannon as a team is eighth in the PSAC with a scoring margin of .9 against opponents.

Against Gannon
  • The Golden Knights lead the all-time series against the Lakers 60-29. Last year, GU took both games of the Porreco Cup 85-57 (Jan. 17 at Gannon) and 77-59 (Feb. 17 at Home).

Next Up: The Lakers will travel to California (Pa.) in another PSAC road matchup on January 26th.
