The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will host PSAC opponent Pitt-Johnstown on Monday

• In the previous game, Eliza Oswalt led the team with career high 25 points and 14 rebounds giving Oswalt her first double-double as a Laker. Amber Renz was right behind Oswalt with 20 points and 6 rebounds but it wasn't enough to take down the Griffins losing 85-77. Seton Hill's Cheyenne Trest led the Griffins to the victory recording 24 points, five rebounds and eight assists. MU was down by as many as 24 points before marching back, cutting the second half deficit to only four.  The Griffins would regroup and eventually push the lead back up to as many as ten, before closing the game out.  Oswalt scored 20 points in the second half, recording 11 in the third.

 

•  Renz leads the Lakers in scoring averaging 12.1 points per game and is one of the two Lakers averaging above ten.  Oswalt is the other Laker scoring in double-digits with 10.3 per game. Renz also leads MU in rebounds with 4.4 per game

 
 

• In the conference, Emily Shopene is third, averaging 4.6 assists per game

 

• As a team, Mercyhurst is third in the PSAC in three-point field goal percentage (.341), fourth in three-point field goals made (7.4), and sixth in scoring (69.3) with its season high coming at home against Wheeling-Jesuit winning the game 89-64 (Dec. 15)

 
 

• Pitt-Johnstown is coming into the game against the Lakers on a two game skid losing to Edinboro 68-63 (Jan. 12) and #15 California (Pa.) 63-49 (Jan. 16)

 

• For the Mountain Cats, Gabrielle Smith and Alli McGrath are the leading scorers for UPJ and are among the top scorers in the conference. Smith is ranked fourth in the conference averaging 20.9 points per game while McGrath is fifth in the conference averaging 18.9

 
 

• Pitt-Johnstown as a team, is ranked fourth in the conference in field goal percentage (.435) and seventh in defense allowing 66 points per game.

 

• UPJ leads the all-time series 19-12 and when traveling to Mercyhurst its 7-8.  Last year, both teams earned a victory at home against one another.  Pitt-Johnstown won the first meeting 63-54 (Jan. 13) while MU took the second game 67-59 (Feb. 21)
