GREENSBURG, Pa—The Mercyhurst men's basketball team won their second straight road game on Wednesday, Jan. 16th against PSAC opponent Seton Hill 76-55.

- Jason Massey led the Lakers with 19 points, seven rebounds and four steals with Nelson Maxwell right behind him with 18 points and four rebounds himself. Patrick Smith was another notable Laker to mention recording a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds in the Lakers road win.

- Nathan Davis was the leading scorer for the Griffins with 14 points and five rebounds.

- In the first half, both teams played even until Mercyhurst (10-4, 5-4) was able to finally break it open off of a fast break layup by Jason Massey starting an 9-1 run making the score 22-14. Seton Hill's (3-12, 1-8) Davis would end the run with a three-pointer cutting the Lakers lead back to five. MU would answer that three-pointer with another fast-break layup by MiyKah McIntosh. With just over four minutes to go in the first half, Mercyhurst would go on another run (8-2) pushing the lead to 13 (30-17) with a layup by Edvaldo Ferreira. Both teams would exchange buckets back and forth but Seton Hill was never able to cut the lead below 11 points going into the half. MU outshot SHU from the field with a shooting percentage of .500 while Seton Hill shot a staggering .360. Massey led the Lakers with 13 points.

- To open the half, Maxwell would start a 6-2 run extending the lead to 44-27. At the 13:05 mark of the second, Derrick Ellis Jr. would give the Lakers their largest lead of the game (19). Trevor Blondin of Seton Hill would answer that with a layup of his own before a tip in by Smith and layup by Massey, pushing the Lakers lead to 21. The Griffins would not go away and wouldn't let Mercyhurst extend its lead to their game high 25 points until just under two and a half minutes remaining in the game with a three-pointer by Maxwell. The Lakers would get their tenth win of the season by a final of 76-55 over PSAC opponent Seton Hill keeping them undefeated all-time against the Griffins with a record of 11-0. Maxwell and Ferreira led the Lakers in the second half, both with nine points.Â

- Seton Hill in the second half would shoot .464 from the field going .415 for the game while the Lakers maintained their first half percentage of .500. Mercyhurst out rebounded the Griffins 38-31. MU tallied 11 bench points compared to the Griffins 17.

Next Up: The Lakers will look for their third straight win as they host Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday, Jan. 19th in a PSAC matchup.
