ERIE, Pa. -- Alyssa Zirnheld smacked 15 kills and Claire Kenny made 28 assists as the Mercyhurst volleyball team won its home opener over Point Park, 3-1, on Wednesday at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.

Point Park won the opening set, 27-25, before MU stormed back with set victories of 25-21, 25-16 and 28-26.

Also for the Lakers, Katie Baird contributed 13 kills, Mary Marusza had 16 assist and Zoe Gadomski finished with 22 digs. Beth Brady added 10 digs. Leah Kern and Alyssa Kling had three total blocks.

For Point Park (4-5), Jordan Dixon and Ashley Taylor had 12 kills apiece and Jazlyn Rozier contributed 11 for Point Park. Brittany Bianco added 40 assists.

The Lakers (3-6) will return to action this weekend at the California (Pa.) Invitational.
