Anderson pushed the MU lead to 7-5 early in the second half and the teams traded goals after that. The visiting Golden Bears (6-11, 3-9) trimmed their deficit to one goal on three occasions after that -- 7-6, 8-7 and 9-8 -- before a three-goal stretch by Mercyhurst increased the gap to four.

Sullivan and Izzo scored 34 seconds apart and Anderson pushed the Mercyhurst lead to 12-8 with 7:20 remaining in the contest.

Madison Carlucci was Kutztown's leading goal-scorer with four tallies. Sarah Gabriele added three scores in support of goalie Haley Kline, who had eight saves.

The Lakers outshot Kutztown, 28-24, and held a 15-8 draw advantage. The Golden Bears had a 28-24 edge in groundballs.
