ERIE, Pa. --
Taylor Izzo had an eight-point effort, finishing with six goals and two assists, as the 21st-ranked Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team defeated Bloomsburg, 16-7, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal on Tuesday at Tullio Field.
Grace Lawson,
Emma Hubert and
Torie Sullivan added two goals apiece while
Kristin Anderson,
Olivia Africa,
Cassandra Ellis and
Molly Meegan tallied one each for three-seed Mercyhurst. Bloomsburg was the sixth seed in the tournament.
Lacey Netti made four assists, Anderson dished two assists and Lawson and
Angelina Simon contributed one assist each.
Kira Kolb was dominant on the draw, totaling 10 controls. She also had four caused turnovers and three groundballs.
Raelyn Tiberio was the winning goalie with 11 saves.
The Lakers (12-5) jumped ahead with the game's first three goals and never trailed. Mercyhurst led 7-4 at halftime and enjoyed a 9-1 stretch in the second to put the game out of reach.
Taylor Turner, Tracy Rusen and Grace Keller scored two goals each for Bloomsburg. Goalie Angela DiPasquale made three saves.
Shots were even for the two teams at 25-25. Bloomsburg held a 23-18 edge in groundballs while Mercyhurst was up 16-9 on draw controls.
With the win, the Lakers advanced to the PSAC Tournament semifinals and will take on two-seed East Stroudsburg on Friday at 4 p.m. at host West Chester. Top-seed WCU will take on Lock Haven at 1 p.m.
