ERIE, Pa. --
Grace Lawson scored five goals, including the first three tallies of the contest, as the 21st-ranked Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team earned a 16-4 victory over Edinboro during Wednesday's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action at Tullio Field.
MU's leading point-getter
Taylor Izzo added two goals and five assists while
Kristin Anderson compiled two goals, two assists, four caused turnovers and two draw controls.
Single goals were scored by
Torie Sullivan,
Olivia Africa,
Angelina Simon,
Payton Cook,
Cassandra Ellis,
Molly Meegan and
Jenna Hagen. Africa, Sullivan,
Emma Hubert and
Catherine Meegan added assists.
Kira Kolb contributed four draw controls and two caused turnovers to the Laker effort. Sullivan also had four DCs.
Raelyn Tiberio was the winning goalie with three saves and
Abby Miller totaled one save.
Lawson led an early Mercyhurst charge, putting the Lakers ahead 46 seconds into the game. Later in the half, Lawson (2) and Izzo (1) combined for three-goals in a 33-second span as MU went up 4-0 and cruised from there.
Holding a 6-2 advantage, Mercyhurst went on a 10-0 run across both halves to put the contest out of reach.
Lindsey Brinkel, Desiree Doucette, Stephanie Chido and Maddie Mulcahy had goals for EU. Candace McDole stopped six shots in the cage.
The Lakers outshot the Fighting Scots, 32-15, and held a 20-15 groundball edge and 14-8 advantage in draw controls.
Mercyhurst will return to action on Saturday when it plays its final regular-season game at 11 a.m. against PSAC opponent Kutztown.
