#15 Baseball Homers Three Times In Non-Conference Win

ERIE, Pa. – The 15th ranked Mercyhurst baseball team earned a nine-inning non-conference win Monday afternoon with a 9-5 victory over Malone at Mercyhurst Baseball Field.

The win is the seventh-straight for the Lakers (13-3) while giving Malone (15-9) its first loss in three games. The Lakers remain unbeaten this season when collecting more hits than their opponents (13-0).

After Alex O'Donnell hit his second home run of the season in the first inning, Mercyhurst still trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the second.

The Lakers had six cross home in the frame to grab hold of a lead they would not give up. Matthew Schneider had solo home run in the inning, followed by RBI-hits from Matthew Gibson, Jimmy Standohar, and O'Donnell.

O'Donnell had a team-high three RBI game for the Lakers while Standohar had three hits in four at bats.

Drew Delsignore added a solo shot in the seventh inning to go with Zach Mitchell's RBI-single to give the Lakers some insurance.

A conglomerate of pitchers was used by the Lakers, with Adam Jeannette earning his second win of the season after 2.1 innings of hitless relief ranging the sixth, seventh and eighth. He had three strikeouts and just one walk.

Nicholas McRandal also pitched effectively after entering in the second inning. He threw a scoreless 2.2 innings.

Hunter Treece shut the door in the ninth with the Lakers up four.

Mercyhurst gets back to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play this weekend with a series against Indiana (Pa.). Friday's doubleheader will be at IUP starting at 1 p.m. with Saturday's home slate set also set for 1 p.m.
