EDINBORO, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's basketball team fell to 11th-ranked Edinboro, 81-63, during Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition on Saturday.
Eliza Oswalt led the Lakers (10-18, 8-14) with 17 points and five rebounds. Meghan Komebdark added eight rebounds while Kori Sidwell, Emilee Norris and Emily Shopene grabbed seven boards each. Sidwell also had six assists.
Mihaela Barnes led the Fighting Scotts (23-3, 19-3) with 24 points. Ciara Rosten recorded a double-double, posting 17 points and 11 rebounds. Jontay Walton also added 17 points. Leading rebounder Whitney Allen grabbed 12 boards.
The host Scots took a 24-13 lead through one quarter before Mercyhurst pulled within four during the second period. A 9-0 Edinboro run closed the half as the hosts took a 47-30 lead into intermission.
Edinboro held its advantage in double-figures before the Lakers pushed within eight in the fourth quarter, but that was as close as the Lakers got.
The Lakers shot 24 of 65 from the field (36.9 percent), including 5 of 17 from three-point range. The Scots held a 47-43 rebound advantage.
